Baker, John E.,71, of Springfield, OH, passed away after a brief battle with cancer.The son of Lewis A. Baker and Goldie Irene (Keating) Baker, John was born June 16, 1946. He graduated from Northeastern High School, class of 1966, and served in the US Army from Aug 5, 1966 through Aug 2, 1968. He leaves behind to cherish his memory his wife of 46 years, Gayle A. (Diller) Baker, two sons, Thomas E. (Rachel) Baker of Fairborn, Gregory A. (Stephany) Baker of Sidney and a daughter Lorinda (Sean) Lewis of Wisconsin; five grandsons: Landyn E. Baker of Fairborn, Cody A. and Colt E. Baker, Matthew J. and Lucas A. Poeppelman of Sidney; sisters-in-law Jean L. Baker of Springfield and Nancy J. Diller of Enon; two brothers-in-law Ed (Patsy) Diller and Roger (Donna) Diller, both of Springfield. Nephews: Jim (April) Baker of Florida, Jeff (Katie) Baker of Iowa, Don (Noelle) Diller of Springfield. Nieces: Becky (Boyd) Barger, Sandra (Curt) Callicoat and Beth (Zach Baum) Diller all of Springfield. Uncle Larry (Glenna) Keating, Aunt Frankie Keating, and Aunt Shirley Keating all of Springfield. Eight great nephews, three great nieces, and many cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother James L. Baker. Through his hard-working career, he had the opportunity to establish lasting friendships from his time at the City of Springfield and Ohio Edison. He enjoyed spending time with his family and friends, golfing, boating, fishing, and playing cards. Visitation will be Tuesday from 6-9PM in the RICHARDS, RAFF & DUNBAR MEMORIAL HOME. Services to honor John will be Wednesday at 10:30AM in the Memorial Home with Chaplain Janie Brewer officiating. Burial to follow in Vale Cemetery.
