Dennis E. Powell

Dennis E. Powell, 69, of Springfield, Ohio passed away on Tuesday morning, August 2,2016 at Springfield Regional Medical Center following a brief illness. Dennis was the only child of D. Elmo and Mary Louise Powell born on December 11, 1946, in Springfield Ohio. Dennis was a 1964 graduate of Shawnee High School. He served his country during Viet Nam in the U.S. Navy stationed in Southeast Asia. Dennis retired from Navistar where he worked many years at the Urbana Wire and Trim plant in departments 23 and 65. He was a member of Local 402 and Union Club. Dennis’s love was cars and sports cars. He was an avid enthusiast. He was a member of the Sports Club Car of America and served many years as Chief of Technical Inspection for Ohio and Western Ohio Regions. He also had been a member of the K of P Ingomar Lodge in Springfield, Ohio, and served the community for many years as member of Neighborhood Watch. Dennis is survived by cousins Larry (Earlene) Wenner, Lamar (Monica) Wenner, John (Hannah) Wenner, his little cousins Marc, Delaney, and Russell, and Dr. Steven Morganstern and family, He is also survived by his good friend Richard (Donna) Ireland, and his good neighbors Bill and Mardene House. He is also survived by his 2 cats who he adored. Graveside services will be held on Monday, August 8, 2016 at 11AM at Rose Hill Cemetery. Pastor Jeff Smalley from South Charleston United Methodist Church will officiate.
