William L. Back, age 81, of Huber Heights, Ohio, passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by his beloved family, on Monday, June 30, 2025. Born on January 10, 1944, in Yellow Springs, Ohio, Bill was the cherished son of the late James and Goldie Back.
A dedicated and hardworking man, Bill owned and operated Back Excavating, a business through which he expressed his passion by driving his beloved dump truck. Bill's love for life extended beyond his work; he found immense joy in taking vacations with his family, frequently visiting his cabin at Cave Run Lake and enjoying the sunny beaches of Florida, where he worked on his tan.
Family was the cornerstone of Bill's life. He treasured every moment spent with his loved ones, especially enjoying watching his children and grandchildren participate in races and many other sports and activities. A proud owner of the “Silver Stepper,” Bill took pride in showing his truck for many years.
Bill is survived by his devoted wife of nearly 56 years, Connie Back; his children, Billy (Cristy) Back and Mellisa (John) Weinert; and his grandchildren, Brooke (Shane) Stewart, Morgan (Jordan) Rullamas, Tyler (Bailey) Weinert, Logan Back, and Lyndsey Back (Garrett). He also leaves behind his cherished great-grandchildren, Liam Back, Cooper Stewart, and Reagan & Rowan Rullamas. Bill is lovingly remembered by his sisters, Phyllis Mellon and Jean Helton; his brother, Rick (Yvon) Clemons; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins, including special cousin Kathy, who held a special place in his heart. He was preceded in death by his brother, Glen Back, and brother-in-law Ron Helton.
Friends and family are invited to pay their respects during the visitation on Thursday, July 3, 2025, from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm at Trostel, Chapman, Dunbar & Fraley Funeral Home in New Carlisle, Ohio. A funeral service will follow at 1:00 pm. Bill will be laid to rest at Dayton Memorial Park.
