Thomas Bell

July 10, 1932 — August 14, 2019

Bell, Thomas, passed on August 14th peacefully at the age of 87 and is survived by his loving wife Becky Bell and his four Children, Bob Bell wife Jonelle, Tommy Bell wife Jina, Michael Bell wife Gina and his daughter Erin Bell England husband Wes. Tom and Becky are blessed with 10 wonderful grandchildren. Tom was preceded in death by his sister Maureen Bell Dowd, and his parents Thomas Joseph and Mary McGarrigle Bell. Tom or Tommy to others was born in the Bronx, NY and his parents were naturalized citizens from Belfast, Ireland. A natural athlete, Tommy attended Mount St. Michaels High School in the Bronx and was recruited by Vince Lombardi to attend the (USMA) West Point to play football under the famous head coach Earl "Red" Blaik. Tommy went on to become the 1st player in Army Football history to rush for over 1000 yards his Senior or First Year in 1954. He was selected as a Look Magazine "All America" along with many fine players of the day. Tom graduated from the Academy in 1955 and went into the Airforce where he flew multi engine transports. After 5 years He left the Airforce and settled into civilian life where he eventually met the love of his life Rebecca Anne Coombs. Tom and Becky were married over 58 years. He enjoyed a career in sales with prestigious companies like Stanley and Ingersoll-Rand. A Funeral Mass will be held in his honor at St. Gertrude’s in Madeira, Ohio on September 7th at 9:00 AM all are welcome. Tommy will be interned at West Point in early November of this year.
