Florence, Ted
E. O. Jr. "Ted" Florence, age 79, of South Charleston, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, July 4, 2018 which was a symbolic date for a Vietnam Veteran who served in the United States Marine Corps. Ted was a graduate of Culver Military Academy and graduated from The Ohio State University. He was a member of Phi Gamma Delta fraternity. Ted was always up for an athletic challenge and was known for his speed and precision on the hand ball and racquetball courts. He encouraged his three children to take on physical fitness in every shape and form, including triathlons and coaching. He had a fulfilling career in finance, and was most proud of his tenure with Red Roof Inn. As an avid Buckeye fan, he enjoyed watching OSU football and being with his family near and far during retirement. He was proud to take every opportunity to serve his country throughout his life. Ted was preceded in death by his parents Edwin and Mary Katharine, and aunt Marian Valentine. He is survived by daughters, Mary Katharine Shiple (Craig), Elizabeth Boyuk (Peter); son, Tim Florence (Tonya); devoted brothers, Phil and Sam Florence (Karen); sisters, Barbara Florence and Kay Banion (Mike); grandchildren, Kurt and Drew Shiple, Cassidy and Macy Boyuk; and several nephews and cousins, including Tom, Jack, Michael, Patrick, Robbie and Josh Florence. Memorial services will be Saturday, August 18, 2018 ay the home of Kay and Mike Banion 10779 Columbus-Cincinnati Rd. South Charleston, Ohio.
