It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of the one and only …

Sylvia Jean Holland (Stevens)

Sylvia was born in Newark, Ohio to Opal and James Stevens. She graduated from Shawnee high school in 1963, worked at Kroger as an office manager for 17 years and then perused a degree in massage therapy, specializing in neuromuscular and infant massage. Sylvia married Joseph Holland on April 2, 1977 and together they have built a beautiful home and large, treasured family where she always served as the strong matriarch and always encouraged the spread of God’s love and light! Sylvia loved her family beyond measure. She always hosted holidays and worked hard to make them special. Her love for traveling, reading, writing, shopping and food led her to many places with family and friends. Sylvia volunteered on a Native American reservation as a massage therapist and traveled to their homes to treat patients in the 1990s. Sylvia passed away surrounded by her family. The days before her passing were spent having an anniversary gift exchange with husband Joe and a family plate parade of her favorite dishware. Sylvia is proceeded in death by Opal and James (parents), Brian C. Short (son), Gary Stevens (brother), Jeff Holland (son-in-law), Holston Monette (great grandson), and many extended family members and friends who are gone but not forgotten. Sylvia is survived by her husband, Joe, children Brett & Dorothy Short, Rana Holland and Jodi & Little Beaver, brothers Dan and David Stevens, many grandchildren, great grandchildren and two great great grandchildren, as well as many cherished family members and friends. A celebration of life will be held in the near future, date to be announced.
