Steven E. Dixon

January 28, 1961 — March 26, 2020

Steven E. Dixon,

loving husband, devoted father, dependable brother, fun uncle and incredible grandfather, age 59 of Medway Ohio, passed away Thursday March 26, 2020. He was born January 28, 1961 in Dayton, OH and grew up in Fairborn, OH. The son of the late Jack M. and Wanda (Gerry) G. Dixon (Waldren). He is survived by his best friend and wife of 35 years Tonya S. Rawlins; Daughters Katie (Michael) Hohl and Hayley Dixon; Beloved dog of 14 years Sadie; three brothers, Charles (Elaine) Dixon, Robert (Mary) Dixon and Jack (Michi) Dixon; three sisters, Pamela Dixon, Laura (John) Floyd and Lisa (Ronnie) Gibson; three grandchildren Cameron & Kennedy Hohl and Charles Leatherman III; in-laws Robin (John) Trusheim and Tommy (Tayna) Rawlins; many nieces, nephews, friends and other relatives. Steve was a hard-worker his entire life. Seamless somehow, he wore many hats and went from protecting and serving his country as a member of the United States Navy to many years in the construction industry while being a coach and mentor, to recently caretaker and his most proud role, Grandpa. His most prized processions were Tonya and his girls. Self-proclaimed luckiest man in the world, there wasn’t anything he wouldn’t do to make sure they were happy and had what they needed, and most of the time what they wanted. Steve was the definition of a genuinely, good person and friend. He made sure everyone was taken care of often sacrificing so much for himself to provide to others. He always saw the good in people and treated everyone with the same level of respect, no matter their walk of life or what they had or didn’t have. He would give the shirt off his back even if it was his last shirt to help someone in need. He enjoyed watching the Ohio State Buckeyes, Cincinnati Reds, NFL and UD Flyers basketball. He loved to take annual trips to Myrtle Beach, Hocking Hills and Florida. He was a history buff and often the number one source for any type of information. He was the ultimate green-thumb, having his plants looking immaculate both inside and outside. He was the epitome of fun – whether it be flying his grandkids in the air or dancing at weddings. He took great pride in hosting family gatherings, especially his annual Memorial Day party, and most Friday evenings you would find him at the kitchen table ready to dominate in his favorite game, ‘aggravation,’ with his best friend Daren Bowling. Steve spent tireless hours taking care of those around him. He loved his family with all he had, and in return he was loved by the masses. It is an understatement to say he has earned his eternal rest. It is now our turn to try and be worthy of his sacrifices in following by his example. To be decent people, to care for family and think of others first, to be appreciative of what we have, and know that there should be great pride in living a simple life, as simple lives can still be full of love and happiness. Given the COVID-19 situation, a private, family-only funeral and burial will be held. A gathering of family and friends to celebrate the great life Steve lived and the impact he had on us all will be announced at a later date.
