Shelby A. Hollon

of Huber Heights, Ohio entered into the presence of the Lord on December 29th, 2018 at the age of 87. He was born December 8th, 1931 on the family farm, down in a holler in Wolfe County, Kentucky. Son of Kie and Pearl (Banks) Hollon, he grew up working on the family farm and eventually moved to Ohio where he worked for Koehler Aircraft followed by a career at Dayton Progress until retirement. He loved the Lord, his family (especially his grandchildren), his church family, and his many friends. He enjoyed fishing, golfing, and spending time with the people he loved. Preceded in death by his wife Thoma Jean Hollon and dear lady friend Josephine Gatland. Survived by brothers John, Billie Joe, and Donnie Ray; sisters Junie Peters and Genola Patrick. Preceded in death by Brothers Dave and Charlie; sisters Audrey Bush and Dill Johnson. Survived by his children Candice (Don) Arndts, Dave (Darlene) Hollon, and Rebeca Sweatt. Preceded in death by granddaughter Jeannie Margaret Hollon; Survived by grandchildren Donald (Marion) Arndts, Brian (Kim) Arndts, Shelby Sue (Brian) Bond, Matthew (Ceana) Hollon, and Cody (Gabrielle) Hollon; 14 great grandchildren; 4 great great grandchildren; and an endless list of other family and friends. Services will be held at the First Baptist Church of New Carlisle, 8870 E State Route 571, New Carlisle, OH 45344, on Saturday January 12th, 2019. Visitation is from 10:00-12:00 with service to follow at noon. A visitation fellowship meal will be held at the church immediately following the service. Internment will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made in Shelby’s memory to Hospice of The Miami Valley or the charity of your choice.
