Ronald P. Rogers, 76, of Springfield passed away Monday, October 17, 2016. He was born January 3, 1940 in Springfield the son of Theodore L. and Nellie P. (Lavender) Rogers and was a 1957 graduate of Springfield High School. Ronald served in the United States Marine Corps and then served in the U.S. Navy Seabees during the Vietnam War. Ronald’s father was also a Marine and was wounded at Iwo Jima during WWII. Ronald was able to travel to Iwo Jima in 1960. It was an important and memorable experience for him. Ronald received numerous awards for his work at Wright Patterson Air Force Base, and retired after 36 years of service. He is survived by his wife of 54 years Diane (Ogura) Rogers; one son Wayne Paul Rogers of Springfield; two grandchildren Courtney Ann Rogers and Austin Paul Rogers; two great grandchildren Rylee Beal and Ezra James Curtis Rogers; one niece and one nephew. He was preceded in death by parents and his brother Harry L. Rogers. At Ronald’s request, there will be no services. The family would like to express their thanks to Dr. Macy, and the Doctors and Staff at Springfield Regional Medical Center for the care given to Ronald and his family, and to our caring cousins Jim and Mary Jane Payton, and Roger and Debbie Lutz.
