Ronald L. Johnson, 80, of Springfield passed away Saturday, March 3, 2018 in the Wexner Medical Center after a brief illness. He was born July 30, 1937 in Selma, OH the son of Clarence and Ruth (Upthegrove) Johnson. Ronald was a hardworking man his whole life. He worked fifty years for Thompson Excavating as a heavy equipment operator and foreman, and worked for American Freight for many years. Mostly, he enjoyed spending time with family. He hosted and cooked for a large gathering every Sunday for his extended family. Ronald is survived by his children Ronald L. Johnson, Jr., John A. (Norma) Johnson, Thomas E. (Baheejah) Johnson, Mathew R. Johnson, Conrad C. Johnson, Julia A. (Yancey) Johnson, Crystal Beckner, Vodie (Kenneth) Ackley and Tonya (Scott) Kimble; a daughter-in-law Linda Austin; brothers Tony and Gary Johnson; sister Rita McClure; his ex-wives and dear friends Lucy Johnson and Linda Johnson Peca; countless grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. He is preceded in death by his parents; son Gordon Austin, Jr.; daughter Cecelia Johnson; sisters Patty Scales, Sandy Green and Brenda "Bunny" Nared; and a brother Donald Johnson. The Johnson family will have a gathering of family and friends to celebrate Ronald’s life at a later date. The family is being served by RICHARDS, RAFF & DUNBAR MEMORIAL HOME.
