Roberta F. "Bobbie" Mayes

Mayes, Roberta F. (Bobbie), 75, entered the presence of her Lord and Savior on Friday September 1, 2017 surrounded by her family at Springfield Regional Medical Center. She was born on July 20, 1942 in Springfield, Ohio. She was one of seven children born to Robert and Ruth (Wolfe) Mayes. She was a 1961 graduate of Springfield South High School and retired from Community Hospital in August 2004. Bobbie was an active member of Faith in Christ Lutheran Church where she served in various capacities. She also was a member of the Oesterlin Woman's Auxiliary. Bobbie was a voracious reader who never left a garage sale without an arm full of books. She laughed out loud when she read the comics and cried easily when watching happy or sad movies. She was an old soul, a kindred spirit that everyone seemed to latch onto and love. She was the family anchor, the family historian and the family treasure. She was preceded in death by her parents, sister Lou Ann Mayes and Brother- in- law Jefferson (J) Dobson. She is survived by her five siblings; Bonnie Dobson, Edward Mayes, Vicki (David) Hartley, Fred (Debra) Mayes and Robert Mayes Jr. all of Springfield. Her life was also blessed by a host of nieces and nephews including a special niece Ruthie (Craig) Fogle; a host of great and great-great nieces and nephews. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, September 5, 2017 from 6 to 8 pm at the Richards, Raff & Dunbar Memorial Home, and one hour prior to services at church. The funeral service will be held at 11:00 am Wednesday September 6th at Faith in Christ Lutheran Church, 1603 Moorefield Road with Pastor Jeffrey Lee officiating.
