Robert E. Shirey

Robert E. Shirey, 79, of Springfield, went home to be with his Lord on Wednesday, October 28, 2020. He was born February 18, 1941 in Springfield, the son of the late Edwin and Dorothy Shirey. Bob was a proud U.S. Marine serving in Vietnam. He attended Galbreath Creek Missionary Baptist Church of Bryson City, NC. Bob is preceded in death by his son Scott Shirey and brother John Shirey. He is survived by his wife of 56 years Virginia Lee Shirey; children Laura Marie (O.C.) Stevens, Beth Shirey and William (Dana) Shirey; honorary son Scott Jenkins; brothers Edwin and William Shirey; sisters Barbara Huppman, Corine Smith, Dorothy (Tom) Burke and Judy Selby; grandchildren Morgan Martin, Savannah Stevens, O.C. Stevens, Jr. and Alexander Shirey; three great-grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews and extended family.
