In Loving Memory of Robert Murrle Peters

Robert Murrle Peters, age 90, passed away peacefully at home on July 8, 2026, surrounded by the love of his family.

Born on July 1, 1936, in Johnson City, Tennessee, to Willard and Winnie (Robinson) Peters, he was raised in the Butler community, where he learned the value of hard work while helping on his family's tobacco farm. Those early lessons shaped the man he would become—honest, dependable, humble, and devoted to those he loved.

In 1956, he moved to Ohio to begin a new chapter. Over the years, he built a career in the automobile industry, working at Hall Pontiac, Kessler Pontiac, Thuma Chrysler/Plymouth, and Shakro-Holt Buick. Later, he found the work that brought him the greatest joy at Tecumseh Local School District. He treasured the relationships he built there with students, parents, and staff, and took great pride in being a familiar, friendly face in the school community. His kindness, quiet encouragement, and genuine care for others left a lasting impression on generations of families.

Above all else, he was a family man. He shared 71 wonderful years of marriage with the love of his life, Lula Belle (Ward) Peters. Together they built a home filled with love, laughter, and unwavering support. Nothing brought him greater happiness than spending time with his family, watching them grow, and celebrating each new generation. His love was steady, unconditional, and immeasurable.

He was the oldest of six children and was preceded in death by his parents; his brother, Dana (Jerry) Peters; his sisters, Betty (Melvin) and Ruth (LeRoy); and his brothers-in-law, Evans Street and Jim Rogers.

He is survived by his devoted wife, Lula Belle; his daughters, Pam (Steve) Mustovich and Norma Cooper; his grandchildren, Aaron Ashbaugh, Jessica (Ben) Kitchen, John (Sarah) Cooper, Scott (Maria) Mustovich, and Lacey (Dustin) Hoover; his cherished great-grandchildren, Henry and Everett Kitchen, Ava and Aly Ashbaugh, and Coltin, Layla Hoover and Walker Mustovich; his sisters, Carol Taulbee of Florence, Kentucky, and Charlene Rodgers of Aniville, Kentucky; along with many nieces, nephews, extended family members, and countless friends who will miss him dearly.

He found joy in life's simple pleasures. He loved working in his garden and took pride in sharing its fresh vegetables with family and friends. He enjoyed restoring and admiring classic cars, watching the birds gather at his feeders, following NASCAR races, and spending quiet afternoons watching golf. Every morning began with a cup of coffee, and he found happiness in watching neighborhood children play ball across the street. His door was always open to friends who stopped by for a visit, and he treasured conversations with lifelong buddies. He never met a stray cat he wouldn't feed, and there was always seed waiting for the birds he so loved to watch.

He lived with gratitude, finding happiness not in grand moments but in everyday blessings. His gentle spirit, generous heart, tireless work ethic, and quiet appreciation for life will remain an enduring example to everyone who knew him.

The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to Libby Reese, Helen and Jay Krumholtz, Frank Storaci, and the compassionate caregivers at Ohio Hospice for their kindness, friendship, and exceptional care during his final days.

His legacy lives on in the family he cherished, the friends he welcomed, the students and coworkers whose lives he touched, and the countless acts of kindness that defined his life.
