Rita Carol Waln (Blessing), age 82, of New Carlisle, Ohio, was called home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, June 10, 2025. Born in Fayette County, Ohio, on August 22, 1942, she was the cherished daughter of the late Leonard and Elsie Blessing.
Rita was a dedicated member of Be Hope Church in Beavercreek for over two decades, a testament to her deep and abiding faith. Her life's mission was to share the word of the Lord with everyone she encountered, a passionate witness for her beliefs. As a devoted Christian mother and grandmother, Rita had an extraordinary gift for remembering special occasions in the lives of her loved ones.
Her love for photography was well known, capturing moments of family joy, the beauty of nature, and God’s magnificent creations. Those who knew her cherished her for this talent and for her warm and compassionate nature.
Rita's legacy lives on through her loving family: her children Debbie (Don) Zombeck, Tim (Jeanna) Waln, Steve Waln, and Nancy (Devin) Thompson; her 14 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren, all of whom were a source of immense pride and joy for her. She also leaves behind her beloved brother, Don Blessing.
She is reunited in Heaven with her parents and brothers, Alan and Richard Blessing, who preceded her in death.
The family requests that in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions be made to Samaritan’s Purse, honoring Rita's generous spirit and commitment to helping others.
Family and friends are welcome to celebrate Rita’s life at a visitation on Friday, June 20, 2025, from 5 PM to 6 PM, followed by a service starting at 6 PM. She will be laid to rest on the following day at Washington Cemetery in Washington Court House.
For those unable to attend, online condolences may be shared at trostelchapman.com. Arrangements are entrusted to Trostel, Chapman, Dunbar & Fraley Funeral Home.
May her soul rest in eternal peace, and may her memory forever be a blessing to those she leaves behind.
Psalm 91:1-2 Whoever dwells in the shelter of the Most High will rest in the shadow of the Almighty. I will say of the Lord, “He is my refuge and my fortress, my God, in whom I trust.”
