Richard L. Smith

Richard L. Smith "Grumpy" 80, of New Carlisle passed away peacefully on September 20, 2021. He was born in Bellaire, Ohio to the late William & Emily (Bond) Smith on March 13, 1941. Dick was a veteran of the United States Air Force. He retired from Heidelberg Finishing Systems as a machinist after 35 years of service. After retirement he worked as a bus driver for Tecumseh Schools. Dick was a member of First United Methodist Church of New Carlisle where he served many years as a trustee. He was an avid golfer, loved fixing things for others, but most of all loved being Papaw. He is survived by his wife of 38 years Colleen Smith; children Rich Smith, Andrea Holt & Chris (Michelle) O’Shell; grandchildren, Rikki, Rhiannon, Brianna, Stephanie, Corey, Shawna, Maria, Samantha & Michaela; 11 great grandchildren; brother, Tom (Barb) Smith; brother-in-law Bill McCormick; his beloved dog Baxter, special family friends, Tina, Jennifer & Kyle; and numerous nieces, nephews & other relatives and friends. Along with his parents he is preceded in death by his sons, Tommy & Brian & sister, Dorothy McCormick. At this time no services are scheduled.
