Richard Paul "Rick" Moran, 79, passed away peacefully on February 9, 2026, in Tipp City, Ohio. Born on January 18, 1947, in Dayton, Ohio, Rick lived a full and vibrant life rooted in family, faith, and the great outdoors. Rick earned both a Bachelor of Science in Chemical Engineering and a Master's in Business from the University of Dayton. His academic achievements laid the foundation for a successful career as an engineer with General Motors, where he applied his skills with dedication and integrity. A devoted husband, father, and grandfather, Rick is survived by his beloved wife JoAnn Moran; daughter Michele Morgan; son-in-law Jim Morgan; son Michael Moran and his wife Julie Moran; and grandchildren Brendan Morgan, Jason Morgan, Colton Moran, Blake Moran, and Maddi Moran. He also leaves behind friends and extended family members who cherished his presence in their lives. Rick was preceded in death by his parents, Mary and Orwin Moran; his sister Mary Jane Boehner; and brother-in-law Jerry Boehner. A man of deep Christian faith and unwavering devotion to his loved ones, Rick found joy in every moment spent with family. He was especially proud to support his children and grandchildren in their sports and interests-always present on the sidelines or cheering from afar. An avid outdoorsman throughout his life, Rick embraced nature through hunting, fishing, camping, hiking, scuba diving, water skiing, and snow skiing. He had a special fondness for lake vacations where he delighted in teaching friends and family how to water ski. Whether cutting wood or feeding local wildlife near home, Rick remained active well into his later years. His dogs were constant companions whom he lovingly spoiled. Rick's legacy is one of love-for his family, for nature, and for the simple joys of life well-lived. His memory will continue to inspire those who knew him to live with purpose and heart.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Trostel, Chapman, Dunbar & Fraley Funeral Home. Expressions of sympathy may be made at www.trostelchapman.com.
May his memory bring comfort to all who knew him.
