Richard Donovan

Richard Earl Donovan, 92, passed away on January 19, 2018. He was born in Xenia, Ohio on May 2, 1925. One semester short of graduating from Xenia Central High School, at the age of 17, he enlisted in the Merchant Marines to serve during World War II. He was honorably discharged on June 4, 1945. On December 26, 1946, he married Mary Catherine Hignite until her death on November 25, 2013. In 1982, he retired from General Motors after more than 30 years’ service.Richard is survived by five sons Rick, Mike, Shane, Shad, and Kerry, as well as 11 grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren, and one great great-granddaughter. He is also survived by four bothers and two sisters. Richard is preceded in death by his parents Bernard Lewis and Dorothy Ginaven Donovan as well as his siblings Leroy, William, Donald, and Patricia. A funeral service to honor Richard will be Wednesday at 1:30 PM in Trostel, Chapman, Dunbar & Fraley Funeral Home with visitation beginning at 1:00 PM.
