Ralph E. Allen

Ralph E. Allen, 90, of Springfield, passed away Thursday, May 7, 2020. He was born January 27, 1930 in Hardy, KY, the son of Richard and Martha (Johnson) Allen. Ralph served in the U.S. Navy for four years and in the U.S. Army for 16 years, during that time he served during WWII, Korea and Vietnam. After his retirement from the Army he worked for the National Park Service in Virginia. Ralph’s job with the Parks service never seemed like work because of his love for the great outdoors, camping, fishing and enjoying the sights and sounds of nature. He loved watching the Cincinnati Reds and most of all spending time with his family. Ralph is preceded in death by his mother Martha Woods; father Richard Allen; grandson Christopher J. Lambert; and sister Mary Williamson. He is survived by the love of his life and wife of 60 years Gisela D. Allen; children Marion A. Glenn, John D. Allen, Martha "Marty" Lambert, Linda S. Stiffler, Joe E. Allen and Norma J. Pence; son-in-law Tim Stiffler; daughter-in-law Diane Allen; granddaughter Avery L. Hooper; great-grandchildren Delaney and Callen Lambert; sisters Judy Hall and Bonnie May; and brothers Harold "Sonny" Woods and Thomas "Tommy" Woods. A memorial service for Ralph will be held at a later date once restrictions are lifted. Arrangements have been entrusted to Richards, Raff & Dunbar memorial Home.
