Norman E. Hesskew

Norman E. Hesskew, 59, of New Carlisle suddenly lost his battle with lung cancer, his cancer was in remission but complications to his lung overpowered him. He put up a good and strong fight and passed on doing what he wanted, spending his last evening with friends passing May 1, 2018. He was born October 9, 1958 on Ramey Air Force Base. His family moved around and it became a way of life, moving and making friends quickly or not having any. He chose to make friends wherever he was, he never met a stranger and later in life became a love him or hate him scenario, there was no in between. His crazy childhood found him in a foster home, separated from his family and not knowing his mother and father had passed for many years. Losing his father-in-law, Ben Burcham, was his first experience with losing a family member and has unfortunately lost many friends since then. He is survived by his soulmate and best friend of 39 years Linda; daughter and son-in-law Cathy and Richard Dover; his most cherished granddaughter Madison and her sister Shelby and brother Kenny. Norman proudly served in the U.S. Army Reserves, although he did not serve over seas, he was proud to be of service to his country. He was an active member of the Loyal Order of the Moose, Crystal Lakes Lodge #2464. He had many friends at the lodge and enjoyed spending time with all. Norman also enjoyed harassing the neighbors and will be greatly missed by them. He had so many friends it would be impossible to list them all (plus I am terrified I would miss one of you) I will trust that all of you knew that Norman Cared for Each and Every one of his friends. He tried to do the right thing by people and expected only their respect in return. He was a "fixer" and if he couldn't do it himself he knew someone who could. Norman was a strong willed Leader and Protector who fought to his last breath. He will be deeply missed. A memorial gathering will be held Wednesday, May 9, 2018 beginning at 4:00 PM at the Moose Lodge #2464, 12325 Gerlaugh Rd., New Carlisle, OH 45344. A Celebration of Life and Fundraiser will be held Friday, May 11, 2018 beginning at 5:00 PM. Memorial contributions may be made through the Moose Lodge #2464.
