Norma Jean Hull

December 24, 1933 — May 24, 2025

New Carlisle

Norma Jean (Lee) Hull, age 91, of Kettering, Ohio, passed away peacefully on May 24, 2025. Born in Oakland, Maryland, on December 24, 1933—just in time for lunch on Christmas Eve, as she loved to say—Norma Jean held a lifelong pride in her Maryland roots. A bright and talented young woman, she played clarinet in the school marching band and showed a natural aptitude for numbers. After high school, she moved to Morgantown, West Virginia, where she earned her certificate in bookkeeping and met Noel Robinson. Together, they raised four children and later settled in New Carlisle, Ohio, when Noel began working at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base. After her marriage to Noel ended, Norma Jean was fortunate to find kindness, support, and love in her marriage to Anson Hull. Though their time together was brief before his passing, it was a profoundly meaningful chapter in her life. With Anson came the gift of two grown sons—Bill (Peg) Hull and Joe (Sherry) Hull—and instant grandchildren, Brian and Aaron. Norma Jean was a devoted member of the First United Methodist Church of New Carlisle, where she served faithfully in many roles: choir member, board leader, finance director, Sunday School teacher, Bible study participant, and key contributor to the church Bazaar and candy-making team. She also volunteered at Mercy Medical Center for many years, receiving recognition for her dedicated service. In 2021, Norma Jean moved to One Lincoln Park Independent Living in Kettering, Ohio, where she enjoyed her final years surrounded by a caring community. She loved playing Euchre, joining social activities, and often said the residents were there to support each other in this stage of life. More than anything, Norma Jean took greatest pride in her children and grandchildren. As her family reflects on her life, they lovingly say she had a “front row seat” to watching them grow, thrive, and live their lives well—a fitting tribute to the joy she found in being their mother and grandmother. She was preceded in death by her parents, Cleo and Earl Lee; her husband Anson Hull; her brother Lyle Lee and sister-in-law Geneva Lee; her stepson Joseph Hull; the father of her children, Noel Robinson; and many beloved “aunts,” “uncles,” and close friends who were family in her heart. She is survived by her children Norean (Jeff) Wilbert, Nelson (Stephanie) Robinson, Neal (Kim) Robinson, and Nora (Jack) Vondrell; her stepson William (Peg) Hull and daughter-in-law Sherry Hull; her grandchildren and their spouses: Brian Hull, Aaron (Manassa) Hull, Jennifer Poole, Chelsea (Stephen) Hickey, Allison (Michael) Affourtit, Angel (Ben) Woolery, Jacob (Dezerae) Robinson, Evan (Maria) Wilbert, Hannah (Jordan) Young, Grace Mullinex, Luke Vondrell, and Adam Vondrell; her great-grandchildren: Devon Hull, Pryia Hull, Brooklyn Poole, Ryan Sloan, Jaxson Hickey, Sloane Affourtit, Emery Affourtit, Colton Woolery, Kendall Woolery, and Jack Robinson; her niece Robin Heckman, nephew Derek Lee; and many others whom she held dear. A visitation with the family will take place on Saturday, June 14, 2025, from 9:30 a.m. to 10:45 a.m. in Wesley Hall at First United Methodist Church of New Carlisle, followed by a Celebration of Life at 11:00 a.m. in the Sanctuary. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Norma Jean’s memory to the First United Methodist Church of New Carlisle. Norma Jean’s legacy is one of unwavering faith, loving service, gentle humor, and fierce devotion to family. She will be deeply missed and forever cherished.
