Mary E. "Sis" Smith

Mary E. "Sis" LeValley Smith, 79, of Springfield passed away Thursday, December 28, 2017 in her home. She was born August 20, 1938 the daughter of Ernest and Mary (Roberts) LeValley and was a 1956 graduate of Catholic Central High School. Mary was a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles #397 Auxiliary for 50 years, 28 of them as Secretary, until her health began to fail. With the permission of the Aerie Trustees, she was able to send a terminally ill member to the Grand Ole Opry. Mary was instrumental in sending items to our military in Operation Desert Storm. With the help of her daughter Linda and her friend Kathy Reid, they donated enough supplies to fill two military trucks. She was named Mother of the Year and Sweetheart of the Year three times each. Mary was an EMT with Rockway Fire Department, and served as Secretary and President of the department. She is preceded in death by her parents; loving husband of 51 years, Dan Smith; sister Saundra West; brothers Kevin and Richard LeValley; sister-in-law Mildred LeValley. She is survived by two sons Bryan (Cathy) Smith, Mark (Lisa) Smith; a daughter Linda (Wendell) Sehen; four brothers Eddie (Corina), Bud, Jim, and Loren (Deb) LeValley; a sister Deborah (Steve) Ray; five granddaughters Brittany(Chris) Hull, Holly (Joel) Lino, Ashley Sehen, Dakota Smith, and Aleya Hawk; three grandsons Michael, Zach and Dalton Smith; great granddaughters Hannah, Kaylee, Emma, Ava, Juliet, Audrey, Sadie and Alesia; great grandsons Cash, Tukker, Kaiden, Kolten, Jacob and Triston; several nieces and nephews; and a special friend Dorothy Baugh. Visitation will be Wednesday from 6 – 8 PM. in the RICHARDS, RAFF & DUNBAR MEMORIAL HOME. The service to honor Mary’s life will be Thursday at 1:00 PM. in the Memorial Home with burial to follow in Glen Haven Memorial Gardens.
