Mary C. "Cathy" Howard

Mary C. "CATHY" Howard, 76, of Springfield passed away Saturday, May 11, 2019 in her beloved home. She was born August 10, 1942 in Springfield the daughter of Ronald and Helen Byerman. Cathy lived most of her life in Clark County and retired from Northeastern School District. She enjoyed 4-H, helping her daughters with their horse Holy Smoke Doc at the county fair. Cathy loved bowling with her friends for many years, and having her grandkids come to the farm to eat and play. When the family began raising Thoroughbred horses to race and sell, she was always watching and predicting when the mares were about to foal, and she was accurate most of the time! Cathy enjoyed this activity very much, along with family and friends. At our home, we had flowers and birds, which she cared for year round, always making sure the birds were fed and the flowers watered in and around the home. Cathy is survived by her husband Jimmie Howard; daughters Lisa A. Howard Roberts and Nikki J. Howard; sons Mike and Ron Moats; special granddaughter Kaylee Roberts; special nephew Josh Morris; sisters Jody Byerman Michael, Sue Morris and Nikki Blain; brother Mark Byerman; grandkids, friends and neighbors. She is preceded in death by her father Ronald; mother Helen; stepmother Betty; and a brother Tom Byerman. Services will be held Thursday at 2:30 P.M. in RICHARDS, RAFF & DUNBAR MEMORIAL HOME with Rev. Rick Tettau officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service.
