Linda L. Captain

Linda L. Captain, 73, of New Carlisle, passed away on Saturday, December 17, 2022. She was born on June 17, 1949, in Dayton, the daughter of the late Luther Cantrell and Ada Crase. Linda retired from General Motors after 30 years of service. She was a veteran of the U.S. Marines and a member of First United Methodist Church of New Carlisle. Linda was also a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles #3491. She was a loving mother and friend to all in her community. Linda loved her dog Sassy and rescued her cat, Callie. She is preceded in death by her son Charles Captain, Jr.; daughters Rachel Coleman and Rebekah Captain; father Luther Cantrell; grandson Dally Coleman; mother and step-father John and Ada Crase; and the father of her children Charles Captain, Sr; children’s god father Joseph “Papa Joe” Nicholosi. Linda is survived by daughter Elizabeth Captain, Lorie Amburgey and Angie Amburgey; sons Lance Amburgey and Larry “Jason” Amburgey; brothers Johnny Crase and Phil Crase; sisters Cindy Crase, Debbie (Mike) Book and Jessica (Ryan) Crase-Kiblinger; grandchildren Nick (Taylor) Williams, Donovan Captain, Clayton Captain, Brent Captain, D.J. (Courtney) Coleman and Cody (Lexi) Coleman; great-grandchildren Kaydence, Jaylynn, Braylon and Hayden; son-in-law David Coleman; numerous nieces, nephews, extended family and friends. Visitation will be held Thursday, December 22, 2022, from 5-7pm with the service to honor Linda beginning at 7pm at Trostel, Chapman, Dunbar & Fraley Funeral Home.
