Age 91, Born September 19,1928 in Laurel, Nebraska passed away January 5, 2020 to be
with Patti and his Heavenly Father. Preceded by his loving wife of 65 years Patti A. (Evans) Schuler, father Chester E. Schuler, mother Lulu F. Schuler, brother Kenneth Schuler, and sister Janice Anderson. Survived by his three sons, Alan (Debbie), Marc, Steven (Deana), two daughter's Pamela (Bill) Beckett, and Penny Carmosino. Brother Eldon and sister's Gloria (Peter) Bianchini, and Betty Lawrence. Numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren and his four-legged companion JoJo. Leland was a U. S. Navy Veteran of W.W II. Retired from the Ohio Edison Co. in 1989 with 38 years of service as a line foreman and instructor at the Edison training center in Massillon,Ohio where he received a certificate in management development. He was Elected Master of H. S. Kissell Lodge #674 F. & A. M. 1963 & 1997. He was a member of the Ancient Accepted Scottish Rite of Freemasonry. President of Springfield Management Assoc. 1974 & 1975, and received the Superior Achievement award from the National Management Assoc, and served as chairman of the annual Management Assoc, one day seminar at Wittenberg Student Union two consecutive years. Elected Springfield City Commissioner 3 terms 1978-1989 and Mayor of Springfield 1984 & 1985. Instituted the first Sister City for Springfield with the City of Berwick Australia. Later the city changed the name to Casey Australia. Leland organized the Springfield Golf Association, in 1991. Leland enjoyed playing golf, as well as the many buddies he played with. He was a member of the First Christian Church over 65 yrs. His favorite quote. (People will forget what you said. People will forget what you did. BUT PEOPLE WILL NEVER FORGET HOW YOU MADE THEM FEEL. In lieu of flowers please make your donations to the Alzheimer’s Association. Visitation will be Friday from 5-7PM in the RICHARDS, RAFF & DUNBAR MEMORIAL HOME. Masonic services will be Friday at 7:00PM in the Memorial Home. Services to honor Leland will be Saturday at 10:30AM in the Memorial Home with Pastor Carl Ruby officiating.
