Kenneth Ray Black

Black,Sr., Kenneth Ray, 84 of South Charleston, was born June 14, 1936 in Elliotsville, Kentucky, the son of Emerson L. Black, Sr. and Agatha (Hunter) Black. Survived by his wife, Beulah of 64 years, and his two sons, Kenneth Black,Jr., (LeeAnne) of Charlotte, North Carolina, Timothy Lee Black (Sue) and daughter Tamera Kay (Black) Pitstick of South Charleston,, Ohio and grandchildren, Daniel, Josh, Brian, Ellen Black and Reed Pitstick and brother Lowell (Carrol) Black. He was preceded death by his parents, sister Juanita Jones and brother Emerson L. Black, Jr. Kenny graduated from Southeastern High School in 1955 and retired from Navistar in 1992 with 30years of service. He was an avid sports fan, supporting his children and grandchildren through elementary, high school, and college and rooting for the University of Kentucky and the Cleveland Cavaliers. Kenny restored cars, enjoyed NASCAR, always rooting for Jeff Gordon, and loved all things chocolate. Still, nothing compared to his love for his grandchildren, who called him Pappaw and Pop-Pop. In their words, their grandpa was a constant source of inspiration and support, attending each and every event, whether inside a gymnasium or an auditorium or on a playing field, and came stacked with the essentials: a Gatorade for every game, a Snickers to make it through to the next, a bag of sunflower seeds just because that’s what he taught his grandkids to eat at baseball games. He was always there for his children, and their children, who couldn’t have asked for a better dad or grandpa. Private services will be held at the convenience of the family.
