John C. Parr Jr. (Johnnie) of Enon, Ohio passed away unexpectedly on April 15th and
went home to be with the Lord. He was born in Springfield, Ohio on February 5th, 1948
and was the third of seven children of John and Milly Parr.
John met Peggy Zinn, the love of his life and wife of 53 years, in high school and
together they had six children: Adrienne Parr (Ryan Blumberg) of Placida, Florida, Eric
(Laura) Parr of Lomira, Wisconsin, Adam Parr, Kendra Parr of Pitsburg, Ohio, Anthony
(April) Parr of Indianapolis, Indiana, and Chelsea Parr of Florence, Kentucky; fifteen
grandchildren, London Renato, Colten Parr, Caleb Parr, Chase Parr, Casey Tanner, Elle’
Parr, Madeline Parr, Ariana Hulefeld, Elijah Parr, Brody Hulefeld, Lillian Parr, Isaac
Parr, Jasper Parr, Lucas Parr and Elliot Parr. He is also survived by two sisters, Gail
Chandler, Gloria (Bob) Zeller, and three brothers, Phil (Sharon) Parr, Matt Parr and
Brian (Betsy) Parr and numerous nieces and nephews.
John was preceded in death by his parents John and Milly Parr, his brother Vince Parr,
his son Adam Parr, and beloved granddaughter Casey Tanner.
John’s career began in 1967 when he was hired by NCR and then Telex as a computer
technician. Asked by his father to join him in the family business in 1970, he served in
numerous positions over a span of years and became the vice president of production at
Springfield Cabinet Works. He was also an entrepreneur who was regularly coming up
with ideas for starting businesses and successfully pioneered his way into several new
ventures.
In 1978 he and his family moved to Fort Walton Beach, Florida where he went to
seminary and became a pastor. This led the family back to Ohio where he served as a
pastor at the Tri-County Christian Center in Medway and Rivers Edge Church in
Springfield and then as chaplain for several years in the Tecumseh Local School District.
Family and close friends will remember John for his loyalty, caring and compassion, his
love of sports, sense of humor and "corny jokes’, and his ability to recall stories from
days gone by. With the current restrictions on social gathering, a celebration of John’s
life will be held at a later time, when all can gather together as family and friends to
smile, laugh, hug, cry and celebrate the special man we all knew and loved.
