It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Jewell D. Orr, a beloved mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, who departed this life on Friday, August 14, 2026, in Dayton, Ohio. She was born in Cincinnati, Ohio, on March 17, 1943, to William Henry and Hannah M. (Shepherd) Gray. Jewell devoted her life to her family and her faith, leaving behind a legacy of love and devotion. A longtime resident of Dayton, Ohio, she was an ardent believer and a faithful follower of her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Her spiritual journey was enriched by her active membership at New Life Church, where she not only worshiped but also contributed to the community with her passion and warmth. Jewell was known for her melodic voice and traveled with her siblings to area churches as a cherished member of the gospel singing group, Zion's Voices. Her love for music and her faith intertwined beautifully, enriching the lives of those who heard her sing. A woman of great hospitality, Jewell welcomed everyone into her home with warmth and grace, especially during the holidays, with Christmas being a particularly cherished time for her to host family gatherings. Her love for sewing and traveling were just a few of the many ways she expressed her creativity and zest for life. She is survived by her loving children, Rhonda (Orr) Weihrauch, Christopher Orr, and Brian Orr; her devoted sister, Carolyn Orr; cherished grandchildren, Donnie, Candace, Tiffany, Victoria, Elizabeth, Jacob, Aubrey, and Autumn; and ten great-grandchildren. Jewell's memory will also be carried forward by numerous nieces, nephews, friends, and a host of her church family. Jewell was preceded in death by her beloved spouse, Marvin Orr, her parents, and siblings Lee, Lester, Vanda, Ella Mae, Bill Jr., and Terry, as well as her son-in-law, Donald Weihrauch II. A celebration of Jewell's life will be held at New Life Church in Dayton, OH, on Tuesday, August 25, 2026. A visitation will begin at 11:00 AM, followed by the funeral service at 12:00 PM. Jewell will be remembered for her unwavering faith, the warmth of her hospitality, and the unending love she gave to everyone she met. Expressions of sympathy may be left at www.trostelchapman.com
