Jerry L. Blackford

Jerry L. Blackford, 86, of Tipp City, went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, October 11, 2026. He was born May 9, 1940, in Covington, OH, the son of the late Ralph and Dorothy Blackford.

 He was a member of West Charleston Church of the Brethren and contributed to the church by sharing his talent as a woodworker, as well as to many friends and family. He retired from Chrysler Corp. at the age of 55. 

He is survived by his daughter Judy (Robert) Gay; daughter-in-law Karmyn Buehrer; grandchildren Amy (Kevin) Kessler, Amanda Blackford, Kayla (Kody) Thiebeau, Lee (Ashley) Blackford, Justin (Katelyn) Gay, Matthew (Madisyn) Gay and Thomas (Allie) Gay; sisters Janet Wayne and Joann (Rick) Miller; brother Jim Blackford; sisters-in-law Janet (Strait) Blackford, Joann (Kenny) Didier brothers-in-law Phil (Becky) Strait, and Steve Conner; 15 great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews. 

Jerry is preceded in death by his wife of 61 years, Mary (Strait) Blackford; parents; son Michael Blackford; brothers, Joe Blackford and John (Faye) Blackford; sisters-in-law Virginia (Strait) Blackford and Nancy (Strait) Conner.

 Visitation will be held Saturday, October 17, 2026, from 10am-12pm at Trostel, Chapman, Dunbar & Fraley Funeral Home, New Carlisle, with the funeral to honor Jerry beginning at 12:00 PM.
