Janice M. Oakes Sheridan

Janice M. Oakes Sheridan, 88, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great grandmother and friend passed away on October 3, 2026. Born on November 4, 1937, Janice lived a life centered around love, family, faith and cherished memories. Janice cherished her family above all else. She treasured spending time with her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren creating memories that will remain in their hearts forever. She also loved her church family and held the friendships, love and fellowship they shared close to her heart. For many years, Janice enjoyed spending time on Marco Island, a special place where she made many wonderful memories and enjoyed the beauty and warmth of the island. Janice is survived by her beloved husband Jim Sheridan, her son Gary (Missy) Oakes and her daughter Pam (Bob) Tatone. Her daughters-in-law; Patti Oakes and Kari Oakes, her grandchildren; Nikki, Jason, Jessi, Zach, Terry, Sam, Max and Bobby along with 15 great grandchildren and 3 great-great grandchildren. Janice was preceded in death by her husband Fred Oakes, her sons Terry Oakes and Jim Oakes, her grandson Joey Jennings, one sister and three brothers. She will be deeply missed by her family, friends and church family. Her love, kindness and beautiful memories will remain in our hearts of all who knew and loved her. Those we love don’t go away they walk beside us everyday. May she rest in eternal peace. Visitation will be held Thursday, October 8, 2026 from 11am-12pm with the service to honor Janice beginning at 12:00pm at Trostel, Chapman, Dunbar & Fraley Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Maple Hill Cemetery, Tipp City. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions have been requested to the South Charleston United Methodist Church.
