Janice Sue (Cavins) Koons, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, caregiver, and friend, passed away peacefully at her home in Medway on Oct. 14.
Janice was born in Middlesboro, Kentucky, and grew up in Tazewell, Tennessee, and later in Ohio. The daughter of Rev. Clyde and Retha (Gulley) Cavins, Janice attended Forge Ridge High School and later graduated from Whitehaven High School in Memphis, Tennessee.
Janice was a devoted wife and mother and leaves behind Steven, her loving husband of 56 years. She was blessed with two children, Steve Koons (Stacey) and Heather McNamara (James).
She accepted Christ at an early age and attended Medway Baptist Church, where she sang in the choir and made weekly visits to many friends and those in need.
The joy of her life was spending time with her four grandchildren, Madisyn, Paiytyn, Jackson, and Finnegan. She also enjoyed her role as a caregiver, helping those in need at McAuley Center in Urbana, and later, retiring from Dayspring in Enon.
Visitation will be held Wednesday, Oct. 21, from 2 – 3 p.m. at Trostel, Chapman, Dunbar & Fraley Funeral Home, New Carlisle. Graveside services and burial will follow at Medway Cemetery at 3:30 pm. Expressions of sympathy may be made at www.trostelchapman.com.
