In Loving Memory of Janice “Joy” Lewis

August 29, 1948 – October 10, 2026

Janice was lovingly known to her family and friends as Joy.

Joy, age 78, passed away on October 10, 2026 surrounded by her family.

Born in Louisville, Kentucky, Joy later moved to Dayton, Ohio, with her husband, where she built her life and raised her family. She was a devoted wife and mother who cherished her family and took pride in the life she built.

In her earlier years, Joy had a special love for her basset hound, Boots. She enjoyed taking him to dog shows, where he competed and proudly won many awards. Her love for adventure also led her to riding motorcycles and exploring trails with her friends. These were special times that reflected her adventurous spirit and her enjoyment of life's simple pleasures.

In 1980, Joy became a mother to her one and only daughter, Keli Marie Lewis, a role that would always hold a special place in her life. She was a devoted wife and mother and her family remained an important part of her story. Her love continues through her daughter and the next generation of her family, her four beloved grandchildren, Kaelin Lewis, Nathaniel Melms, Elijah Melms, and Knoelle Melms.

Joy was a hardworking woman who spent her working years at McCall's Printing Company and Select Tool & Die before retiring from White Castle in Huber Heights, Ohio.

Outside of work and family, Joy enjoyed playing Bingo at Valley Street Bingo. She also loved going to garage sales and thrift stores, always enjoying the fun of looking for a bargain and seeing what she might find. These simple pleasures brought her enjoyment and became part of the memories her loved ones will cherish. She also shared a special friendship with her best friend of 27 years, Patsy Childers, whose friendship was a meaningful part of her life.

Joy was preceded in death by her beloved parents, Clarence and Gladys Mosely; her grandson, Evan Lewis; her brother, Gary Mosely; and her former spouse of 30 years, Eugene Lewis.

She is survived by her loving daughter, Keli M. Lewis; her four grandchildren, Kaelin Lewis, Nathaniel Melms, Elijah Melms, and Knoelle Melms; her best friend of 27 years, Patsy Childers; her siblings, Wayne (Janie) Mosely and Perry (Kory) Mosely; along with nieces, nephews, and many others who will cherish her memory.

Joy will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered, today and always.
