Jane Kathryn Dickard

Jane Kathryn Dickard, 76, of Riverside, formerly of New Carlisle, passed away on September 19, 2026. She was born in Springfield, Ohio to the late Phillip and Lois Sherman.

She was a graduate of Tecumseh High School, class of 1968. Jane devoted most of her life to her family as a homemaker. She was an excellent baker and cook. Every member of the family would get homemade cheesecake for their birthday. She was an avid animal lover; she loved horses and rode when she was young. She never met a dog she didn’t want to pet and was devoted to all her pets. She appreciated music and played the flute and piano. Jane never let her blindness hinder her. If there was something she wanted to do, she would accomplish it. Nothing could stop her. She was active in social service, serving as President of Mad River Lions Club, board member of Dayton Area Visually Impaired Persons, and board member of Pilot Dogs Inc.

She is survived by her husband, Ed Dickard; children, Eric (Patricia) Lamb & Sherrie (Frankie) Neal; step-children, Brian Dickard, Chris Dickard and Karen Dickard; siblings, Carol Sherman and Debbie (Rodney) Whitacre; grandchildren, Sierra, Devon (Lauren), Bradley, Holly, Corey, Emily, Jacob, Andrew and Katie; great-grandchildren, Lillian, Frankie, Elaina, Carson, Jackson, Logan, Elijah, Kayla, Caden and Cameron, and many other nieces, nephews, other family members and dear friends.

Along with her parents, she is preceded in death by her twin sister, Jean Sherman; sister Brenda Kessler; mother and father-in-law, Ed & Annabelle Dickard.

To follow Jane’s wishes, an intimate gathering of family and friends will be held to honor her life.
