James A. Williford, affectionately known as Jim, peacefully departed this world to join his Lord on Friday, June 13, 2025, at the age of 86. Born on January 12, 1939, in Speedwell, Tennessee, Jim was the cherished son of the late Beatrice Williford. A devoted and hardworking man, Jim dedicated much of his life to his career as a journeyman electrician with General Motors, alongside being an active member of the IUE-CWA. Beyond his professional endeavors, Jim attended the Bethel Baptist Church and was a member of Fairborn Masonic Lodge #764 F&AM. Jim's hands were never idle, and his love for woodworking and fixing things brought joy to his life and to those around him. However, his true passion and claim to fame lay in his remarkable talent as a bluegrass banjo player. His musical journey saw him record many albums and perform across Ohio, Kentucky, and Indiana, leaving lasting melodies in the hearts of many. In 1961, Jim married the love of his life, Linda (Everage), with whom he shared a beautiful marriage of 64 years. Together, they raised three children: Deshurae (Bob) Butts, Ben (Vicki) Williford, and Adam (Janelle) Williford. Jim's legacy is further carried on by his grandchildren: Bobby (Jasmine) Butts, III, Kenneth Williford, Cheyenne (fiancé Skye Armstrong) Williford, Ezekiel Williford, and bonus grandson Cody Bethel, as well as great-grandchildren Aubrey, Stella, Brody, and Charlotte. Jim is survived by his brothers Truman (Barbara) Williford and Luster (Mamie) Williford, and his sister Joyce (Marvin) Byrd, along with numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family members. He was preceded in death by his beloved mother, Beatrice Williford, and his sister Margie Corbin. Family, friends, and all whose lives Jim touched are invited to gather for a visitation on Wednesday, June 18, 2025, from 10:30 AM to 12:30 PM at the Trostel, Chapman, Dunbar and Fraley Funeral Home. A service in Jim's honor will follow at 12:30 PM. Those wishing to express their condolences and share memories can do so at www.trostelchapman.com.
