James Francis Miller, age 78, of New Carlisle, Ohio, passed away peacefully on Monday, July 7, 2025. Born on May 3, 1947, in Bend, Deschutes, Oregon, Jim was the beloved son of the late John and Gertie Miller.
Jim dedicated his life to serving his country, joining the United States Air Force. His distinguished military career took him to numerous duty stations across the United States and overseas, including a period in Germany. He served honorably during the Vietnam War and took immense pride in his contributions to the B-2 project. Following his retirement from active duty, Jim continued to serve the Air Force as a civil servant, demonstrating his unwavering commitment to his country.
Beyond his professional life, Jim was a man of diverse interests. He developed a passion for bowling during his military years, a hobby he cherished throughout his life. A devoted sports fan, Jim especially loved football and spent countless fall weekends watching games with his son. His loyal companion, a dog named Little Lady, was a constant source of joy and comfort.
Jim is survived by his wife, Vicki Miller; his son, Christopher Miller; his daughter, Angela Miller; his nieces and nephew, Timmy Murdock, Chelsea McLaughlin, and Kayla McLaughlin. He was preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Rose Cantrell.
Family and friends are invited to pay their respects during a visitation on Tuesday, July 15, 2025, from 4 pm to 6 pm at Trostel, Chapman, Dunbar & Fraley Funeral Home in New Carlisle. A burial service with military honors will take place the following day at 9 am at Dayton National Cemetery, honoring Jim's dedicated service to his country.
