Rev. James (Jim) W. Hampton of Englewood, Ohio, completed his earthly life and went to be with the Lord on September 12, 2020 after a long battle with Parkinson’s.
Jim was born on May 7, 1936 in Ethridge, TN to his parents, mother Felma (Hammett) Hampton and father Rev. Thomas Hampton. In addition to his parents, Jim was preceded in death by his first wife Barbara (Stevens) England, daughter Brenda Fox, son Greg Hampton, aunts Helen (Hammett) Hobart, Ruby (Hammett) Hammonds, and uncles Dewey Hammett, Leon Hammett, John Hammett, Charles Hammett, Max Hammett, and Ray Hammett. He is survived by his ex-wife, Judith L. Clark, and their children: son Rev. Dr. James K. Hampton (wife Carolyn), daughter Nancy M. Meeker (husband Bobby), and grandchildren Michele (Meeker) Tankersley (husband Patrick), Bobby Meeker (wife Carman), Alyssa Hampton and Nathan Hampton. From his first marriage he is survived by children Allen Hampton (wife Nadine), Karen Bradshaw (husband Jeff), and Tammy McDuffie as well as numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Jim pastored Nazarene churches in Brookville and Dayton, OH. He graduated from the course of ministerial study at Mount Vernon Nazarene College (now University). Previously, he worked for Airtron, taught HVAC at ITT Technical School, and then started and owned AirDesign, a HVAC company. He will be missed by so many.
Visitation for Rev. Hampton will be held on September 17 from 9-11am at Bethel Community Church of the Nazarene (4400 Osborn Road, Medway, OH), immediately followed by the funeral service at 11am with Rev. Rick Fiste presiding. The graveside service will follow thereafter at Polk Grove Cemetery.
