James M. Goodin, a beloved resident of Springfield, Ohio, passed away peacefully on Saturday, May 16th, 2026, at the age of 86. Born on Sunday, January 28th, 1940, in London, Kentucky, James was a cherished son of the late Charles and Cora Goodin. James was a 34-year employee of International Harvest/Navistar in Springfield, Ohio and an active member of UAW Local 402. He also cherished his time as a young man working on the family’s tobacco farm and sawmill in Bald Rock, Kentucky, a place rich with memories and hard work. A proud veteran, James served his country honorably in the U.S. Army and claimed he could be seen in a background scene in the James Bond movie Goldfinger (which was filmed at Fort Knox during his service there). He was deeply committed to his faith and was a lifelong member of the Beatty Freewill Baptist Church. An amateur mechanic, he typically had an old car or lawnmower in a state of disassembly in his garage. He is survived by his son, Steve Goodin, of Cincinnati, his cherished grandchildren, Hadley, Beatrice, and Hugh, and a great-grandchild (Porter James). James was preceded in death by his loving parents, Charles and Cora Goodin, his first wife and mother of his children, Judy, his daughter Stacey Goodin, his second wife Elizabeth, and his three brothers. A visitation will be held at Richards, Raff & Dunbar Memorial Home in Springfield, Ohio, on Thursday, May 21st, 2026, from 10:00 am to 11:00 am. A graveside service will follow at Rose Hill Burial Park, Springfield, Ohio, at 11:30 am. James's legacy of warmth, kindness, and a zest for life will live on in the hearts of all who knew him. He will be deeply missed but fondly remembered for his love of family, dedication to his work, and his many contributions to his community and beyond.
