James Rodney "Rod" Garrett

James Rodney "Rod" Garrett, 83, passed away peacefully May 12, 2019. He was born January 22, 1936 in Columbus, OH, the son of the late George and Alberta Garrett. Rod was a U.S. Army Veteran and retired from Hobart Corp. of Troy. He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Kathryn "Kay"; sons and daughters-in-law Jim Jr. and Julie Garrett, Jeff and Denise Garrett and Jon and Cheryl Garrett; grandchildren Christopher, Trey (Kelly), Patrick, Spencer, Leah, Michael, Mason, Lane, Sam, Liam and Maggie; great-grandchildren Carter and Kenna; sister and brother-in-law Judy and Tom Geimer; nieces Jennifer (Rob) Slagle and Kimberly Donavan; and nephew Daniel (Guylaine) Donavan. Rod is preceded in death by his parents; sister Sharon Denis; and sister-in-law Patricia Hayes. A celebration of life will be held June 29, 2019 from 1-5 PM at the Walter Frank Social Room of the Springfield Masonic Community, 28 Commandery Court, Springfield, OH, 45504.
