Irwin Russell Roberts

Irwin Russell Roberts, beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and faithful servant of God, passed away surrounded by the love and memories of those whose lives he touched.

Irwin was born on April 13, 1939, in Harrow, England. In June 1957, he immigrated to the United States, beginning a new chapter in a country he would come to love deeply and proudly serve. He devoted many years of his life to that service, retiring from the United States Air Force in 1984 and later from civil service in 1999.

Following his professional career, Irwin continued his lifelong calling to serve others through his faith. He was an active member of Sugar Creek Presbyterian Church since 1986, where he served as an elder, deacon, and with Stephen’s Ministries. He became a lay pastor in the Presbyterian Church and faithfully served as an interim pastor for many churches, sharing his compassion, wisdom, and devotion with countless individuals and communities. Additionally, Irwin served as an active member of Masonic Lodge 779 Millennium. 

Above all, Irwin was a devoted family man. He treasured his family deeply and embraced his roles as husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather with love and pride. He was a man of strong faith, unwavering patriotism, and a generous heart committed to helping others.

Irwin is survived by his loving wife of 65 years, Linda, and their four children: Eric (Crystal), Karen (Eric), Jeff (Deidre), and Kim (David). He was a proud grandfather to 14 grandchildren and a cherished great-grandfather to 11 great-grandchildren. His greatest joy was the love and connection he shared with his family, and his legacy will live on through the many generations he leaves behind.

Irwin’s life was one of service, faith, love, and dedication. He will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing him.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Disabled Veterans of America (DVA), The Greater Dayton Food Bank, or Sugar Creek Presbyterian Church.

A memorial service to honor Irwin’s life will be held at 1:30 pm on Friday, July 3, 2026, at Sugar Creek Presbyterian Church, 4417 Bigger Rd. Kettering, Ohio, Services will start with a Masonic Service at 1:30 followed by a memorial service at 2:00 with Rev. Amy Duiker officiating and ending with Military Honors.
