Howard Lee Radford Sr., 77, of New Carlisle, passed away peacefully, surrounded by his family. He was born in Allock, Kentucky, on December 28, 1948, the son of the late Henry and Geneva Radford. After his father passed away in 1966, Howard and his family moved to Ohio. He retired from General Motors in 1999, where he was a metal finisher and was the Health and Safety/Ergonomics Coordinator, a role which he took great pride in. He loved country music, especially George Jones. He enjoyed cookouts and campfires, but mostly spending time with his people. He went by many special names; a few of the most important were Sweetie, Popason, Pap/Pappy. He is survived by his wife of 56 years Karen Radford; children, Howard Lee (Melissa) Radford Jr., Rebecca L. Radford, Benjamin D. (Janette) Radford, Jeremy L. Radford; grandchildren, Melynn, Morgan, Donovon, Benjamin, Brandon, Brody, Jeremy Jr., Laney, Zavyor, Chloe, Anthony; great grandchildren, Theo, Peyton, Lucas, Caroline, Kiser, Charlee; siblings, James Radford, Patricia Radford, Clarence (Diane) Radford, Charles (Sue) Radford; many other relatives and special friends. Along with his parents, he is preceded in death by his siblings, Phillip (Jean) Radford, Ida Radford, Arizona “Denese” Radford, William “Boss” Radford, Alger Bart Radford, Henrietta Brewer, and Helen Moran, sister-in-law Martha Radford. Visitation will be held Thursday, March 5, 2026, from 5-7 pm at Trostel, Chapman, Dunbar & Fraley Funeral Home. The services to honor Howard’s life will be held on Friday, at 11 am at the funeral home, burial to follow at New Carlisle Cemetery. Expressions of sympathy may be made at trostelchapman.com.
