Sisters Phyllis Helton, Barbara Stahly, Evelyn (Wayne) Stauffer, brother Phillip (Yvonne) Artz and brother-in-law Ron Butschillinger, and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents Floy (May) and Ruth Artz, husband Homer Weaver, Sisters Marilyn Butschillinger, Isabelle (Sam) Hinkle, Irene, Mary and Susan Artz and brothers Wesley (Lorene), Clarence (Jean), Roger (Harriet), James (Esther), Grant (Ruth), David, Chester Artz and brother-in-law Morris Helton.

Helen found great joy and purpose in staying active and connected through her work and volunteer service. Helen worked at Bethel Local High School cafeteria for 24 years and loved being around the students and staff. Following retirement, she volunteered at Children’s Hospital, Dayton, Ohio, in the Cystic Fibrosis unit for 26 years, where her sister Marilyn was a nurse. Her volunteer work involved keeping the exam rooms stocked, but she always said her real work there was talking with, listening to, and encouraging the patients and families.

She loved being with people, especially family. Helen grew up as one of 13 children and truly cherished her large family, including the close relationships with her many nieces and nephews. Often, family get-togethers were held at Helen’s home, and she thrived on that. Shopping excursions with family was one of her favorite things to do. She was a sports enthusiast and especially loved basketball and football. Following the passing of her beloved husband, she lived at Spring Meade Retirement Community for 15 years, where she was the light and joy of the neighborhood. Helen spent the last 1 1/2 years of her life at Story Pointe Senior Living in Troy, Ohio. There, she made numerous new friends and touched the lives of both residents and staff members, many of whom have said they will never forget her.

Throughout her life, Helen truly never met a stranger. She led a life of quiet servant leadership, always giving of herself and her time. Whether it was a kind word, a card, a phone call, a visit, or her world-famous Monster cookies, Helen was always ready to help anyone in need. She will be remembered most for her huge heart and her sharp wit.
