Harriett Eileen Oberly, 80, of Springfield went home on Tuesday, March 20, 2018 following a brief illness. She was born March 3, 1938 in Greene County, OH the daughter of Otha and Nina (Graham) Bennett. Mrs. Oberly received her Master of Education from Wittenberg University and taught 27 years in the Springfield City Schools, mostly at McKinley Elementary and retired from Schaefer Junior High. Harriett was an active member of Clifton Avenue Church of God, teaching Sunday School and participating in the visitation ministry. She is survived by three sons John "Layne" (Jan) Oberly of Cody, WY, Terry (Jacque) Oberly and Cary Oberly of Springfield; three sisters Martha (Carl) Rowland and Janice Naill of Springfield, and Ruthann Quickle of OK; seven grandchildren Brad (Samantha) Owens, Michelle (Brad) Weitzel, Danielle Borgerding, Amanda (Josh) Back, Brianna Oberly, Krshta Smith, and Sarah (Karl) Young; numerous great grandchildren; great great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents; daughter Cynthia "Jayne" Haley; brothers Bill Bennett and Richard Otha Bennett. Visitation will be Friday from 5-8 PM. in the Clifton Avenue Church of God. Services will be Saturday at 10:00 AM. in the Church with Pastor David Cotto officiating. Burial to follow in Ferncliff Cemetery. Special thanks to all the people at Clifton Avenue Church of God.
