With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Gertrude A. Burton, who departed this life peacefully on Monday, June 22, 2026, at the age of 86. Gertrude was a beloved member of the Springfield community, cherished for her warm spirit, sassy humor, and deep devotion to her family and faith. Born on October 2, 1939, Gertrude was raised in a nurturing home by her parents, the late Lester Craycraft and Daisy White. She was a loving sister to Gary Craycraft and Thelma Keyton (Bob), with whom she shared a lifetime of memories. A faithful follower of Jesus Christ, Gertrude was a former longtime member of Grace Missionary Baptist Church, where she cultivated many lasting friendships and served her community with unwavering dedication. Gertrude spent many wonderful years employed at SoapBox Laundry, where she was known not only for her hard work but also for her compassionate nature and camaraderie with her colleagues. She enjoyed the simple pleasures in life, from cooking homemade bread and noodles for her family to embarking on adventures with Elderly United. Her K9 companions were steadfast friends, always by her side. Above all, Gertrude treasured her family. She is survived by her loving daughters, Donna Hopkins and Gail Brown, who will carry forward her legacy of love and resilience. Her vibrant spirit will also be remembered by her 8 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces, nephews, and friends who were blessed to have known her. Gertrude joins in eternal rest her beloved spouse, Donald Burton, and her three children, Tony Burton, Daisy Edwards, and Brian Burton, whose memories she cherished deeply. To honor Gertrude's life, a visitation will be held on Friday, June 26, 2026, from 10:00 am to 11:00 am, followed by a funeral service at 11:00 am. Both services will take place at Richards, Raff & Dunbar Memorial Home in Springfield, Ohio. Arrangements have been entrusted to the compassionate care of Richards, Raff & Dunbar Memorial Home. Gertrude's life was a testament to the power of love, faith, and laughter. She leaves behind a legacy of cherished memories and an example of living with joy and grace. She will be immensely missed by all who knew her.
