George Melvin Wratten

95, of New Carlisle passed away Friday, January 19, 2018. He was born December 25, 1922 in Brooklyn, IN, the son of the late Harry and Bertha Wratten. George was a decorated WWII and Korean War Veteran of the U.S. Navy and was a Purple Heart recipient. He retired from Commercial Motor Freight of Indiana. George was a member of the American Legion, VFW and Moose Lodge. He was very active in the New Carlisle Community, participating in all the parades in his Navy uniform to honor his fellow veterans. George is preceded in death by his wife Barbara Wratten; grandchildren Boyd Yancy, Jr., Jason Yancy and Hayden Rose; numerous brothers and sisters. He is survived by his daughters Mary (James) Griffin, Donna (Dave) Murray, Debra (Ken) Masloski, Bobbi Zimmerman and Debra Griffin; nine grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren; great-grandson Sebastian Breitenstein; niece Anita Mae Zike; and nephew Darrell (Shannon) Wratten. A funeral to honor George will be Friday at 1:00 PM in Trostel, Chapman, Dunbar & Fraley Funeral Home with visitation beginning at 11:00 AM.
