Gary Riley, beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend, passed away peacefully on November 3, 2025, at the age of 74. Born on December 30, 1950, Gary lived a full and joyful life centered around family, faith, and his love of sports and the outdoors. Gary was married to the love of his life, Erna Riley, with whom he shared many wonderful years filled with laughter, devotion, and cherished memories. Together, they raised two children: John Riley (and his wife Jillian Riley) and Amanda Collins, who were the pride of his life. Gary’s greatest joy came from spending time with his grandchildren — Darren and Alexandria Riley, Ryan and Erica Mitchell, and Brooke Inlow — who lovingly knew him as “PePaw Cheeto” And “PaPaw.” He is also survived by his brother, Mark Riley, with whom he shared a lifelong bond. A passionate fan of the Cleveland Browns, Cincinnati Reds, Ohio State, and the Dayton Flyers (Basketball), Gary could often be found cheering on his teams, no matter the score. He always believed it’s not over till it’s over. “You got to believe” with an unmistakable faith would joyfully be shouted. Especially when watching his beloved Browns. When not watching a game, he found peace and happiness on the golf course, where he was lovingly known and respected as Cobra or with a fishing pole in hand. Gary loved the thrill of the catch, always quick to acknowledge and be grateful to his opponent with a quick measure and picture of proof. With a release back to the water, he also returned to enjoying the quiet moments of life nature provided. Gary could be found earlier in life at the Horse Track with his friends and family, and even was an owner of Racehorses. Gary never shied away from his love of gambling. Rule was never bet more than you can afford to lose. Let’s not forget the weather. There was no need for the weather channel, just ask Gary. He knew it all, weeks in advance most times. He enjoyed storm chasing, sharing his knowledge with folks, especially if it helped folks out. More than anything, Gary was known for his unwavering dedication to his family. He took great pride in providing for them, offering his love, support, and wisdom at every stage of life. His steady presence, kind heart, and sense of humor will be deeply missed by all who knew him. There is no way to quantify in this short message what Gary meant to so many and what they meant to him. Visitation will be held November 12, 2025, from 10 am -12 pm followed by a celebration of Gary’s life will be held on at 12 noon, where family and friends will gather to honor the remarkable man who meant so much to so many. Gary’s legacy of love, laughter, and loyalty will live on in the hearts of all who were blessed to know him. “66”
