Evelyn Jean Pelphrey

Evelyn Jean Pelphrey, 84, of Springfield, Ohio, passed away on Feb. 6, 2019, at her winter home in Fort Myers, Florida.

A loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, she enjoyed homemaking, candy-making, sewing, gardening and collecting seashells.

She was an active member of the Forest Valley Free Will Baptist Church in Springfield.

Evelyn was born on March 19, 1934, in New Lebanon, Ohio, to the late Howard and Adria Wysong (Shell). She graduated from Lewisburg High School as valedictorian of her class.

She married Max L. Myers on Aug. 19, 1953, and they were happily married until his death in 1983. On Oct. 12, 1985, she married Jack D. Pelphrey in Springfield.

Evelyn was preceded in death by her parents, husband Max L. Myers and a grandson, Travis Hoffman.

She is survived by devoted husband Jack D. Pelphrey of Springfield, Ohio; daughter Cheryl (Garry) Warner; son Leon (Robin) Myers; two sisters, Dorine Carroll and Lori Eisenmonger; brother Howard (Rose) Wysong Jr.; three stepsons, Danny (Karen), David (Judy), and Gary (Ruth) Pelphrey; stepdaughter Karen L. Gill; 10 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; nieces, nephews and other relatives.

The family will receive friends during a visitation, 6-8 p.m., Feb. 14, at Forest Valley Free Will Baptist Church, 1821 Troy Road, Springfield, Ohio. A memorial service will be 1 p.m., Feb. 15, at the church. Burial will follow at Arlington Cemetery in Brookville, Ohio. The family is being served by RICHARDS, RAFF & DUNBAR MEMORIAL HOME.
