Evelyn M. "Bess" Elliott

Evelyn M. "Bess" Elliott, 102, of Springfield went home on Tuesday, January 2, 2018. She was born July 14, 1915 in Lawrence County, Ohio, the daughter of the late James and Nora (Rankin) Yates. Evelyn was a member of Northside Church of God and had worked as a custodian at Rockway School. She is preceded in death by her husband, whom she married January 10, 1934, Robert C. Elliott, Sr.; brothers Pearl, Earl, Lawrence "Peg", Roy and Everett Yates; sisters Lucille (Yates) Strait and Florence "Cricket" Yates Cory. She is survived by her son Robert C. (Bertha Sue) Elliott, Jr. of Springfield; daughter Annamae "Annie" (Dwight) Elliott of Springfield; grandchildren Darin Todd Elliott, Robert Heath (Heather) Elliott, Nichole Elliott-Harper and Kristy (Joe) Elliott-Downing all of Springfield; great-grandchildren Olivia Harper, Corbin and Meadow Elliott and Devyn and Brody Downing; special niece Dorty (Strait) Higbee; and lifelong friend Kenny Sholler. Visitation will be Saturday from 11 AM - 1 PM in RICHARDS, RAFF & DUNBAR MEMORIAL HOME. The service to honor Evelyn's life will be Saturday at 1:00 PM in the Memorial Home, with Pastors Don Kelly and Charlene Hubbard officiating. Burial will be in Vale Cemetery.
