Etta Jane Paugh

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Etta Jane Paugh, a beloved mother, grandmother, and friend. Etta peacefully entered the embrace of her Lord and Savior on Thursday, April 30, 2026, at the age of 87. Born on March 10, 1939, in Morgantown, West Virginia, she was the cherished daughter of the late McComas and Josephine Murphy.

Etta was a devoted member of Bethel Baptist Church. She was widely known for her generous spirit and warm hospitality. Her kitchen was frequently filled with the delicious aromas of her cooking and baking, as she found joy in preparing meals that brought her family together. Her grandchildren, often the happy recipients of her affection and baked goods, held a special place in her heart.

Etta was predeceased by her loving husband, Edward K. Paugh, and her brother, Charles Murphy. She is survived by her devoted daughters, E. Marie (Jarvis) Kettlehake, Brenda (Jerry) Preston, and Elizabeth Shambaugh; her grandchildren, Jarvis (Rebecca) Kettlehake, Angela (Ray) Dom, Jesse (fiancée Hannah) Kettlehake, Elizabeth (Scott) Phillips, Gerald (Cindy Owens) Preston, Rebecca (Brad) Whitten, Greg (Crystal) Shambaugh, and Jessica (Danny) Livengood. Her legacy is carried on by her 16 great-grandchildren, 3 great-great-grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews, and close friends Dessie, Roger, and Paul.

Visitation will be held to celebrate Etta’s life on Thursday, May 7, 2026, from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM at Trostel, Chapman, Dunbar & Fraley Funeral Home. A service in her honor will follow at 1:00 PM. Family, friends, and all whose lives Etta touched are invited to gather in remembrance.
