Erdine J. Leapley, 97, of Troy, formerly of South Daytona Beach, Florida, passed away on Sunday, August 23, 2026. She was born January 20, 1929, the daughter of the late C. Elbert and Flossie Leapley. Erdine worked at NCR for 28 years and later retired from ARMCO after 17 years. While at NCR she played center field on the National Champion Softball Team and was later inducted into the Dayton Women’s Softball Hall of Fame. Sports were a passion throughout her life as an avid golfer and bowler. She often took trips to Canada to fish and enjoy the great outdoors. After retirement she stated she never wanted to be cold again and picked up and moved to South Daytona Beach, moving back to Ohio within the last few years to be close to her beloved nieces and nephews. Erdine loved to spoil them in their youth, often sneaking them candy and taking them on epic post-graduation shopping sprees. She loved life, living it her way, wild and free. Erdine is survived by her nephews Scott Gundolf and his partner Barry Adelstein, and Mark and his wife Lisa Kouse; niece Pam Studebaker and her wife Deborah Switzer, and Susan Hall; numerous great-nieces and nephews, extended family and friends. She is preceded in death by her parents and sisters Eileen Studebaker, Miriam Gundolf, Naomi Dick, and Doris Kouse, and nephews Steve Gundolf and Richard Dick; and nieces Amber Studebaker and Anne Hunter. Erdine’s wishes were to be cremated and buried with her family in New Carlisle Cemetery. Arrangements have been entrusted to Trostel, Chapman, Dunbar & Fraley Funeral Home.
