His stories, laughter, love and the memories he created with his family will live on forever.

Elwood “Woody” Bowers II, of New Carlisle, Ohio, passed away peacefully in his home, surrounded by the love of his family, on  August 16, 2026, after a courageous fight with pancreatic cancer. He was born on April 28, 1956, in Springfield, Ohio, to Donna Peck and Elwood Bowers I.

Woody was a proud 1974 graduate of Bethel High School. He went on to serve six years in the United States Army as a mechanic, a role that would lead into his life's profession.

In 1988, Woody married the love of his life, Robin Bowers. Together, they built a beautiful family and a lifetime of memories. Their family grew to include their late son, Robert Wood; Brandon (Kendra) Bowers; Brittanie (Joshua) Stambaugh; and Bradley (Laurie) Bowers.

Woody was a proud Grandpa, Papaw and Papa to grandchildren Justice, Jacob, Destiny, Makayla, Sydnie, Payson, Bryson and Madilynn. His grandchildren brought him immense joy and he treasured every moment spent with them.

Woody loved the outdoors and enjoyed hunting, fishing, golfing and camping. Many of his favorite memories were made at the lake, where he spent weekends enjoying the water, relaxing, and most importantly, spending time with his family and friends. When fall arrived, you could often find Woody in the woods, doing what he loved most—hunting and enjoying the outdoors.

Above all his greatest joy was being surrounded by the people he loved, creating memories with his family and friends.

Woody will be deeply missed by his wife, children, grandchildren, extended family, chosen family and countless friends who were blessed to know him. Though our hearts are broken by his absence, we find comfort knowing he is reunited in Heaven with his beloved son, Robert, as well as his mother, father, stepfather, sisters, brothers and friends.

His stories, laughter, love and the memories he created with his family will live on forever. Until we meet again, Woody, Dad, Grandpa, Papa, and Papaw —you will always be loved, always be missed and never be forgotten.

Visitation will be held at Trostel, Chapman, Dunbar & Fraley Funeral Home on Saturday, August 22, 2026, from 10 am to 12 noon, with the service to honor Woody’s life to follow at 12 noon.
