Elizabeth A. Garland “Sis”, a cherished resident of Springfield, Ohio, passed peacefully from this life on Monday, May 4th, 2026, at the age of 76. Born in Springfield on July 12th, 1949, she spent her entire life enriching the lives of those around her with warmth, kindness, and humor. Elizabeth was the heart of her family and a devoted homemaker, dedicated to creating a loving environment filled with laughter and joy. She was known for her unfaltering love of family gatherings, particularly on Christmas Eve, and her renowned spaghetti & cheese became a much-loved tradition. The gentle warmth of her home was a testament to her love for her family and friends. Elizabeth’s life was woven with simple joys and cherished traditions. She was an avid bowler and could often be found stitching beautiful creations through crochet. Her evenings were spent working on puzzles on her iPad or enjoying her favorite soap operas, with "Days of Our Lives" holding a special place in her heart. She is lovingly remembered by her children, daughters Aley (Robert) Dugan and Cindy (Matt) Zartman, and sons David Garland and Matthew (Arena) Garland. Her family extended to include a beloved stepdaughter, Adrian (Brian) Perkins, and her dear sister, Mary Fouts. Elizabeth's legacy continues through her grandchildren, Anthony, Jesse, Elijah, Olivia, Daniel, Weslee, and Owen, and her great-grandchildren, Grace, Chloe, Skylar, Rex, and Leon. The memory of her life will be cherished forever by her special cousin, Sandy Kirkpatrick, along with numerous cousins, nieces, nephews, and a host of friends. Elizabeth was preceded in death by her beloved parents, Edward and Nora Reed, her husband, Jesse Garland, her son Jesse David Garland, and her sister, Blanche Fent. The family feels blessed for the time they shared with Elizabeth and the love she gave unconditionally. They will hold her memory close and continue her legacy of kindness and warmth. A funeral service celebrating Elizabeth's life will be held at Richards, Raff & Dunbar Memorial Home in Springfield, Ohio, on Thursday, May 14th, 2026, at 10:00 am. Friends and family are invited to pay their respects during the visitation on Wednesday, May 13th, 2026, from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm, also at the Memorial Home. Elizabeth’s life was a blessing, her memory a treasure, she was loved beyond words and will be missed beyond measure.
